The ZenProject SCRUM module
This is the new project management module based on SCRUM: the framework for developing, releasing, and maintaining complex products / projects through an adaptive, iterative, fast, flexible and effective methodology. Scrum is one of the most popular and widespread Agile methodologies. Each declination of the “Agile” philosophy stems from the basic manifesto, called the Agile Manifesto:
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools.
Working software over comprehensive documentation.
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation.
Responding to change over following a plan.
That is, while there is value in the items on
the right, we value the items on the left more.
Starting from this manifesto, a project management module in Scrum mode was developed within the ZenProject solution. The aim is to offer ZenProject users an even more flexible management of projects: giving them the possibility to choose whether to manage the development of a project using the standard method or whether to use the Scrum framework.
ZenProject is a Project Management solution that has succeeded in making the best of two methodologies: SCRUM planning and temporal planning of activities (GANTT) which allow optimal management of projects.
What is it about?
Originally intended for the IT sector, the Scrum framework has recently become a known and used approach in many other sectors: finance, healthcare, automotive, construction.
It is based on the division of the project into several cycles, called Sprints and on the division of tasks distributed on the basis of 3 roles: Product Owner, Scrum Master and Development Team.
Each Sprint is a well-defined part of the overall project, it must allow to obtain a project progress and to carry out a demonstration to the final customer to verify their satisfaction. It is an incremental approach that optimizes, step by step (and sprint by sprint), predictability and risk control.
Product Owner: defines the work to be done and the order in which it is completed. It studies the market requirements, collects the opinions of customers, management and anyone with an interest in the product (stakeholders), and establishes development priorities for the Scrum Team.
Scrum Master: is the person in charge of the process. Expert knowledge of Scrum methodology, he knows how to apply it and makes sure that the team abides by the rules for the project to be successful.
Development Team: it is the work team, made up of 3 to 9 people, which actually completes the Sprints.
Product Owner, Scrum Master and Development Team combined make up the Scrum Team.
Another essential component of the Scrum methodology is the artifacts, that is the way in which Scrum synthesizes and visualizes the work and the value by dividing them into:
Product Backlog: the list of all the features, functions, requirements, improvements and changes to be made continuously and dynamically to the product in future versions. The product backlog contains approximate estimates of both business value and the effort required to develop them; and these latter values are often expressed through story points.
Sprint backlog: The list of work the development team needs to do during the sprint.
Increment: it is the product increase that is generated at each Sprint, the sum of all the elements of the Product Backlog completed during a Sprint and the previous Sprints.
Artifacts are used to make the Scrum Team efficient and performing as:
1. allow you to establish work priorities based on the value and importance of the tasks to be performed
2. make team members interact with each other and generate maximum value.

THE PRODUCT BACKLOG
From the Scrum section of ZenProject the projects that you want to manage with Scrum are chosen / selected (referring to the tasks of the single projects), on which the characteristic properties of the Scrum framework are defined:
– Business value
– Story point
TEAM AND RESOURCES
Selecting them from ZenProject users in which the following roles are distinguished:
– Product Owner
– Scrum Master
– Team members
In which all the tasks assigned to the various members of the Team are shown, which pass from the “To do” state to the “Done” state. Within the Sprint, ZenProject conducts an analysis of the “Capacity” of the team in order to monitor the “Velocity” during the Sprints.
ZenProject also makes the Burndown Chart available to users: The graph that highlights the Sprint trend allowing you to monitor the team’s velocity, thanks to a graphical interpretation of the relationship between the ideal progress of the work done and the real one in terms of completed tasks.
Remember: a team focused on a shared goal that can be reached in a short time is more motivated and productive.
